What Life Plan do you have in place?
What Life Plan do you have in place?
No matter your age or what you do, we need a plan to decide the future. What life plan, really do you have? From personal experience after my accident, there were 10 goals which have been achieved and most said it was not possible. Yet, stubborn and do whatever it takes has the plan working today.
Age is not a problem
It’s how we think and what we do. For many years, there were these goals been worked out and yet, there was no right goal to ensure the future was bright. Yes, learning many things, going out many nights and just enjoying life was how life was for many years.
Learning how to touch-type 100 wpm in 3 days, having a high business position, learning how to Ballroom dance and compete was amazing, even running a marathon. Yet, looking at all these and the goals of starting a business. There was something missing
This is the same for many others
It was doing, the here and now, then how can in the next few days, weeks, months is it possible to achieve these goals and have an amazing social life and enjoying life. And yet there was something missing? Yes, just think to yourself what is your goals?
Now, look at people who are successful, not just the money, the limelight. Look at what they have in their later life. In there 50’s and 60’s.
You will see many would have gone out and had a cracker of a time, out Saturday nights, away on weekends to a holiday venue etc.
Now you will see 3 very distinct people in their 50’s plus
- Just surviving, working out how to pay their bills
- Average person still working out how to retire financially
- The Achievers who have not a problem with retiring
Which one are you? 1, 2 or 3? In fact, if your reading this in your 20’s, 30’s or 40’s consider where you will be. Some may not care and think they will worry about that soon or one day. This is your problem and it will haunt you for years to come.
Look. After having a major car accident at 30 I lost everything, memory, friends, money and even the house.
I was in a car basically 11 months after having TBI and spinal injuries and lucky a job and someone to help.
So having the next 28 years, most of those years was the here and now attitude and it came and bit me until I started working online.
Once realizing that you have to have a plan. Not just for 1 week, a few months or 1 year. It’s about having a lifetime plan.
These are what you need to do to get on track and you need to do this now
5 Simple Goals
- Where will you be when you retire
- A Big house, on the beach, or an apartment
- How much money will you need
- Will you have if retiring now at least 1 million dollars
- Your Health
- What are you doing to ensure good health now and later
- What if something goes wrong
- Remember above, with nothing at 30 what if it happened to you
- Where are you now
- What is your worth, savings, where you live what you have
Just say your 30 years old, your probably 1/2 way to retirement and this is the latest age you need to start planning your future. As much as you may think it unnecessary. Just think of what you own, in the bank and savings. Like myself at 30 had very little, and by 31 broke. Due to an accident.
Let’s look at each one
Just think of this. What is your future desire, A fancy house or just a nice home somewhere? It matters that you know exactly where you will be. It may change, but without a goal, to better what you have or ensure you improve where you are as in renovations. You just have to have a plan for this. Explain later
How much money will you need?
Ok, you have how many thousand in the bank, or super, or very little. Think forward to what you will have when you retire. At present, it is at least $1,000,000 to retire comfortably. If in your 50’s or 60’s without this figure you will struggle. Have you ever considered saving even 10% of your wages and not touching it and investing it? A must do. Sure you can’t afford it, that is the first thought. Keep reading and you will see why.
How good is your health now? Do you smoke, take some strange drug or have a few drinks? Then you should really look at the effects later in life. For example, how many people have liver problems, heart, lung problems? Sure it can happen to anyone. But a healthier life will ensure a better future. My dad at 90 still plays golf 3-days a week as he exercises daily, works in the garden and eats properly. Look at people older than you and look at their health. If unsure ask those who are not well, what they used to do and think of this.
Something Goes Wrong?
Sure many people will think “It will never happen to me” But, the possibility of an injury caused by yourself or someone else can make a huge difference in your life. My story is a classic example. With no payout from insurance, life turns into a struggle. Imagine if 10% of my wages was stuffed away in an investment or something that ensured against something like this. Funny how we make sure we are paying car and house insurance, yet, the most important person is forgotten – YOU!
Where are you now?
Above are things to consider about your future and now, it’s time to stop thinking about today, the party this weekend or the long weekend coming up.
It’s time to think, what is your future all about. If you leave it until your 50 or 60 it is probably too late and you will have to make do with what you have. Unless you have done the above, chances are you will struggle.
Setup Now and Be Ready
- Write up a plan including
- Where you will live
- How much you need
- What your Future will be like
- How to do it
Just think like some very successful people. There are some very successful people who have the life they want later in life and enjoyed their younger years by doing this one thing.
They had a plan for the coming weeks, months, years and long-term. In fact, they pictured themselves at 65 plus.
Then work out how to get there and what to do now.
How would your life look at 65 plus? Have a picture of the car you would want. The type of house you will live in. How much money you will have.
Then, make your plan of how to do it.
What you could do now is. Not have the best of everything, but have what works. Do you really need that new car? If you do calculate how much you will be paying off in the next 5-years and remember it devalued 20% as soon as you hit the road.
Do you need the best house on the best street? What about a house that works, and maybe use that to buy more homes? Yes, you saved money on that new car, now you pay off a bit more on the house each month and then use it to buy another house.
Ensure you have a bank account for total emergencies only. And work out how to make more to cover that 10% loss. Get a 2nd job home business Never underestimate the power of a home business.
Now you have a plan, go and do it.
Just remember the longer you leave it to think of your future, the harder it will be to live out your life comfortably and happier than if you left it.
