How to touch type in 5 days
How do you Touch Type? – Find out how to speedup your day.
Have you ever had a computer in front of you and tapped away with just one or two fingers and wondered how on earth do people type so fast? Would you not like to be touch typing instead of the one finger looking down at the keyboard? Find out the best way to type. You can only improve when you touch type.
It’s pretty simple really. It’s not about how hard it is. It is about how much you need to type that makes the difference.
Many people I see will be head down looking at the keyboard, look up backspace, backspace, backspace and rewrite over the mistake.
Yet, people who have taken the time, just look at the screen and type away and when they make a mistake they see it quickly and rewrite it.
So often than not people are crazily losing time and patience writing 2 fingered or some other weird way of typing.
This really annoys many people, yet it was what happened and now is where I am today. It was back in August 1990 after my car accident and really no idea about anything with pretty bad TBI.
My memory was bad for anything pre-accident and really no idea of the future. It’s like waking up on Sunday morning with no idea what you did last night except this was for 30 years of life.
But, one day I was given the opportunity to work in an office, that, was an amazing offer to actually have a job, of any kind.
Then I thought I need to be able to type.
A lady across the road from where I lived taught office people how to type at a business college and hey this was 1990 before the internet. So I learned from an old-fashioned typewriter.
She came over with this old typewriter some books, pages and said here see what you can do. Now I had spinal injuries to c5/c6 and was wearing a soft collar. This meant I could never look down or could ever look at the keyboard without great difficulty.
So for about 4 days I just sat in front of this thing called a typewriter and tapped well pushed, hard away. They are not like the modern computer keyboard or smartphone. I don’t know if I felt better or worse for this stress lol.
What was I doing?
Then one day the neighbor comes over and asks me how it was going. I just looked at her and said, well, I’m doing my best. It’s not easy, but, if you want to read something out and I will see how I go with all this.
So, I started and she talked and I sweated. Then she just stopped and said, let us have a look.
The poor girl sat down and said “How did you do that?” with my dumb look. I said, “Do what?”
She worked out I was short of 100 wpm with 2 mistakes. (numbers)
My next dumb question – Is that good? She just said how did you type with so few mistakes? Were you looking at the keyboard?
I said, well, think of this. I have this collar around my neck which stops my head from moving. And for 6 months I’ve never been able to look down unless I bend my whole body or look left or right without moving the body.
Well, the comment was. I’m going the pharmacy and buying a stack of collars and giving them to my business people students.
Evidently, I had picked up and learned how to type very fast.
It’s like anything in life if you don’t waste the minutes, hours and days and do what is in front of you. Anything is possible.
You may not be able to type yet, and it’s only because you don’t have them

It’s not about why, where, when it’s about how to do you.
Typewriters are not a thing of the past as we all have our laptops, computer keyboards, and even the smartphones. It’s time we made a difference and moved forward and create what you want.
Touch Typing is just part of the big picture.
Imagine how quick you could work if you make the difference and just do it. Imagine how much more work you can do when you have learned to type.
Just think how much easier it is to look at the screen and be able to read and write, instead of looking down at the keyboard then looking up and having to make corrections. It has helped in the work that I dowork that I do and really shortens work time.
On the old typewriter, it was about pushing hard on a key to get the ink to print onto paper. Now it is feather touch in most cases to type and write what you need.
